On Saturday, May 21 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Kevin Ewing and Scott Rose will be ordained as deacons. There will be one choir rehearsal on Monday, May 9 from 7 to 9 pm at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (5200 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21210). The size of the balcony at the Basilica limits this event to about 40 singers.
If you would like to participate as part of the choir for this event, please sign up using Eventbrite for a ticket according to your voice part.
The Music List is now available. A packet of music will be assembled to facilitate organization of the choir and should be destroyed after use. (Download here.) Sufficient original copies of all music is kept at the Cathedral (or the Basilica). The packet will be available for download soon. Please print out and bring your music with you in a black binder or folder. If for some reason you cannot print the packet, please let me know in advance.
Because this event will take place at the Basilica, we will meet in the choir loft at 8:45 am. There is a video of the Tallis where you can listen and watch the score available here. You can hear A Community Mass by Richard Proulx here. The Gloria is perhaps the least familiar movement. (I prefer a tempo a little faster than in the video.)
Unless stated otherwise, dress code for the Archdiocesan choir will be black and white with a splash of color. A full explanation may be found here.
If you have not already done so, please indicate your intention to sing for this event by sending an email with your name and voice part to email@example.com.
On Saturday, May 30 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Michael Rubeling will be ordained as a deacon on the journey to priesthood. Please indicate your interest in participating in the event by signing up to receive our email list for further details.
